Quick/Spryte puppies are 35 days old

Merlot would like to announce that he has a wonderful new family waiting for him when he turns 9 weeks old. Merlot will be going to live with Lorenda and Quinton in Calgary. This lucky little guy will be training for agility, rally and maybe even scent hurdle racing.  He will have several other canine brothers and sisters to play with and keep him entertained.  I have known Lorenda and Quinton for many years and I am thrilled they will be taking this busy guy home.  And Merlot has a new name…  He is now known as "Hyperhounds Get a Grip", call name "Grip".

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Spark, Spryte and Strider!

Paul and I made the puppies a mini tire jump for the puppy pen.  They think it is a great chew toy, as well as something fun to crawl over and jump through.

  I have also started to handle toes, ears, teeth and brush the puppies while they sit on my lap.  Lots of little exams now will help make them tolerant of grooming, and exams as adult dogs.

Quick/Spryte puppies are 29 days old

We are very excited that Pinot will be going home with Susan when he leaves us. Susan is already a part of the Hyper Hounds family.  She has "Cricket", a bi black female, from our first litter.  Pinot will have two other dogs to play with and will be training for agility and rally obedience. He is going to be a busy boy!  He also is the first puppy to have a new name.  Pinot will now be know as Fizz.  What a fun name for a bubbly little guy.

The puppies went outside for the first time today. It was plus 10 out and the sun was shining. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and get the puppies out for a short exploration session.  The video is below.

We have been allowing Spark to play with the puppies one on one for the past few days. She absolutely adores the puppies. She will lie on the bed and lick their faces, nudge them with her nose in play, gently paw them and she lets them chew on her feet and face. It is adorable to watch. I did get a short video of her and Syrah together. It is below.

The puppies had solid food (canned food) for the first time tonight. They dove right in and started eating.

When we sit in the puppy pen the puppies often run over and climb into our laps. They love to crawl over and under our legs.  When they get tired of exploring they curl up and fall asleep in a big puppy pile on top of us.  They look so cozy we hate to move them.  So we often sit for 20 minutes or more with puppies sleeping in our laps.

One of the new toys this week was a stuffed penguin. The puppies thought it was very exciting. Everyone had to check it out and all took turns chewing and wrestling with the penguin.

I did not get a penguin pic of Ries, but I did get a pic of her with the skinny cow toy. Also a favourite of hers.

Ries was having a cuddle with Paul this evening while the other puppies were playing. So one of the videos does not have her in it. She was blissfuly sleeping in his arms instead.
