Quick/Spryte puppies are 42 days old

The puppies are six weeks old! Today I have started to introduce them to nose work odours. I have a little tin with holes in the top. Inside the tin I have placed a Q-tip for each of the following odours: Wintergreen, Pine, Thyme, Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress.  The tin is placed in the centre of the food plate each time I feed the puppies. This way the puppies are starting to learn that these unique odours predict food.  Using the "cocktail" method of odour introduction helps teach the puppies all the odours at once.  This way all the scents will have an equal level of reinforcement history with the puppies.  When formal odour training starts with the new owners, they can then separate the scents out and teach one at a time or continue with the cocktail method.

The puppies had a new toy in the playroom today. A pop can with pennies in it. Such a simple toy but it provided loads of entertainment for the puppies. They rolled it around with their noses, pounced on it, carried it around, chased it and played keep away with it.  The puppies loved the noise it made and the way it rolled around with the pennies in it.

Quick/Spryte puppies are 39 days old

Ries is a very lucky little puppy. She will be traveling to Luxembourg in Europe to live with her daddy Quick and the Aussies and Shelties of Crazy Town.  Ries will be an agility sheltie and a future mommy. She will be staying with us until the middle of March at which time she will be old enough to make the trip overseas.
We were very fortunate to meet Tania and Ray in September at the world agility championships.  They quickly became friends and we have been chatting weekly ever since.  I am very excited to have Tania come and visit in March.  We will have lots of site seeing to do for Tania's first trip to Canada!
Tania and Ray will be keeping her name the same, but will be spelling it Reese.  Her registered name will be Hyperhounds Canadian Dream at Crazy Town.

Fizz (also has a registered name now:  Hyperhounds So Many Bubbles)
